About Our Horse Racing Tips
I wanted to take a moment to welcome you to our website and introduce myself. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Captain John, a professional punter and the founder of Lay Back & Win. I have been punting pretty much my whole adult life. I have bred and raced thoroughbreds in several states. Punters are the lifeblood of the industry. The rivalry with corporate bookies (and traditional bookmakers before them) is as strong today as ever before.

During my punting life, I have been tipped horses from some of the best judges, jockeys and stables in Australia. I regularly attended race meetings in Brisbane and Sydney and many other venues when I was younger. I have fond memories of watching the racecourse identities go about their business. Fellows like Frankie Scarborough, the “Milkman” Bill Lenehan, the “Butterfly” Mort Greene, the “Fireman” Eddie Birchley and others whose exploits created an atmosphere for aspiring punters that will never be seen on a racecourse again.

I was at the course to witness the infamous Fine Cotton (Bold Personality) win and listened to an incredible thirty minutes of chatter and gossip that followed anxiously waiting for the “right weight” notification to be paid.

When Covid-19 restrictions hit Australia in March 2020, I found myself with free time for the first time in my life. It allowed me to finish a project I had been working on for five years. The culmination of that project has given rise to Lay Back & Win.

I am a great believer in this well-known phrase:

“Don’t expect anything to change if you keep doing the same things over and over again.”
