The ACHS is an independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the quality of health care in Australia through continual review of performance, assessment and accreditation. ACHS is based in Ultimo, Sydney.

Established in 1974, as the Australian Council on Hospital Standards, it is recognised as the leading health care accreditation body in Australia, and as an independent authority on the measurement and implementation of quality improvement systems.

ACHS works with health care professionals, consumers, and government and industry stakeholders to develop and continually review health standards.
