Heather has been registered as a Psychologist since 1996. She completed her initial 4 years of study (Bachelor of Science – Psychology, Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychology) at Curtin University and started work with the Australian Navy in 1993 as a Provisional Psychologist. She had some great experiences on ships and around the country, helping our service men and women be the greatest they could be.
Sound Psychology had its early beginnings in 2007 when Heather Cooke decided to step out on her own as a sole practitioner. Heather started out in a rented room in Safety Bay. She was committed to building collaborative relationships with local GPs and medical centres to assist them in adding value to their patient care. Gradually, over the next few years, the number of clients she saw grew and by 2015 the need to expand became apparent.
In 2016 Heather bought her own office space, an old run-down office, which she renovated into a warm and welcoming practice. With commitment and passion, she maintained the important relationships she had built with doctors and clients, and with the move to a new location, these clients followed her.
Sound Psychological Health Care officially opened its doors to clients in January 2017. Heather welcomed onboard other Clinical Psychologists who she trusted and respected to work with her and her clients. She also developed a supportive Administrative team to help her run the practice and care for her clients.
